West Stanly's EC Department
West Stanly's EC department is committed to providing student-centered instruction in the least restrictive environment. We offer various levels of service ranging from self-contained placement to consultation. Parents, teachers and students are actively involved in the IEP process, including decisions related to classroom modifications. Our teachers are highly qualified and our student services are enhanced by support personnel who assist with modofications to meet individual student needs.
Students in our self-contained classes are actively involved in the school and community with opportunities provided for on-campus and off-campus learning experiences.
Students in the Occupational Course of Study work in various settings to complete school-based and community-based job training requirements. They maintain our athletic concession stand and manage a school-based enterprise. These students are also required to obtain paid employment prior to graduation.
Students in the Standard Course of Study have many options to meet their academic requirements. They may choose EC classes with an EC teacher, inclusion classes with both an EC teacher and a regular education teacher, or regular classes with modifications as needed.
